Sol de janeiro 59

Sol de Janeiro launched a brand new fragrance combo in 2023 that is Sol De Janeiro 59, which is liked by many. The body butter in this range is named Delicia Drench by Sol de Janeiro.

Sol de Janeiro came up with a body cream and a fragrance mist in this collection. It’s going viral on tiktok. So in this article, you’ll know if it’s really worth the hype or just another pass!

The fragrance comes with a purple packaging of body butter and the fragrance mist. The packaging looks really attractive. The fragrance mist comes in the following sizes

  • 90 ml for $24
  • 240 ml for $38

The body butter is available in the following sizes

  • 75 ml for $22
  • 240 ml for $48

Fragrance Notes

Sol De Janeiro 59 Body Mist

Sol de Janeiro 59

Sol de Janeiro 59 smells a bit alcoholic in the opening, not really that great as the other body mists. The key notes here are vanilla orchid, sugar, vanilla and sandalwood. As mentioned in the website, it is a woody gourmand fragrance.

It smells a bit floral after sometime, and there are prominent hints of sandalwood. You don’t get the much vanilla here. I do not recomment this fragrance as it might be cloying just because of the initial spritz which gives it an alchoholic smell. Definately not worth the hype. Smells plasticky and cheap.

Delicia Drench Body Butter

If you love gourmand fragrances and are trying to get your hands on a body butter that smells like an edible mix, definately go for Delicia Drench body butter.

The body butter smells like a sugar cookie, freshly baked out of the oven. The vanilla is more prominent in the cream than the fragrance mist. Definately the one that you must try.

Also, it’s winter season and layering this body butter with other gourmand fragrances like Kayali Vanilla 28 is going to make people follow you and sniff you everywhere you go.

According to Sol de Janeiro, this is the body butter’s description: Bacuri butter replenishes skin’s protective barrier, while our innovative Brazilian Soothing Complex—a blend of copaiba resin and passionflower seed oil—calms stressed skin. Prebiotic hibiscus nourishes the skin’s natural microbiome to support its resilience. New uplifting scent immerses body and mind with enticing notes of vanilla orchid and sheer sandalwood for a mood-boosting experience.

  • Bacuri butter: Locks in moisture and replenishes skin’s barrier by restoring essential fatty acids and amino acids.
  • Brazilian Soothing Complex: Calms stressed skin with an innovative blend of copaiba resin and passionflower seed oil.
  • Prebiotic hibiscus: Nourishes the skin’s natural microbiome to support its resilience.
  • Hyaluronic acid: Provides deep, long-lasting moisture.

The Delicia Drench Body Butter Controversy – Is it real?

Does delicia drench attract spiders?

“Does Delicia Drench attract spiders?” Yeah, that was the question raised by people after the controversy.

According to foxbusiness, a Sephora customer reported spotting several wolf spiders after using the product.

“If you’re scared of wolf spiders — watch out for these lotions, lol. I wanted to love them sooo bad, but one of the ingredients is like kryptonite to wolf spiders!” the customer wrote.

The company shuts down claims as it was a fake rumour. Sol de Janeiro debunked these claims in an Instagram story posted on Friday.

“We didn’t think we’d wrap 2023 becoming an urban legend. All of our products, including the new Delicia Drench Body Butter and upcoming Cheirosa 59 perfume mist, are free from fornesyl acetate, diisobutyl phthalate and hexadecyl acetate. So while they may attract a lot of attention from people, they won’t from arachnids (even though we love all creatures at Sol de Janeiro). Hope that clears up any concerns and Happy 2024!”

This is a new range by Sol de Janeiro, definately try out the products and then buy because what everyone’s nose may pick up, that might be different for everyone. Also taste varies and the production batches too.
